Premise:

This game is based on concepts outlined in novels such as Helmqvist's "The Unit" and ___'s "Never Let Me Go", with some tweaked circusmtances to allow for PC's to continue their lives after donating major organs, and a few other, very messed up details like any good dystopia should have. There will be chances for some fluffy moments, of course, and the setting is beautiful, but let's not forget the dark underbelly of the system that awaits you!

Introduction:

Whoever you were in that other world, forget it. Whether you were a hero or a villain, an average person, or a loser, none of that matters now. You have been chosen, picked up by one of our raid teams for the sole purpose of doing something greater with your life, of devoting it to the highest possible ideal there is. Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friend, and you have been called not only to lay down your lives for the good of another but to be highly rewarded for doing so as well. How, you ask? Well, let's get started!

All characters will awake in one of our medical stasis chambers with the other new residents of the unit. You've been brought here, press ganged, really to participate in medical trials, donate organs and tissues for the good of others, and to help expand the dignity and well being of humanity in one way or another. Yes, even if you aren't human, you can and will be expected to contribute to this.

Shortly after gaining consciousness, you are given your initial placement. You'll be placed in one of our entry level housing units where it is explained that you will take part in manal labor and various non-invasive research and medical proceedures. You might be asked, for instance, to take place in a psychological study, clean dead furbies out of the lab, or assist other residents in higher levels as they take part in research studies and donations of their own. At this level, you will not be granted much, though you'll be comfortable, first level accomodations are very basic and intended to stay that way for a reason. For those who volunteer for our higher level proceedures, there are many benefits and you are encouraged to aid humanity and reap the benefits of generousity by participating in such things.

There are several levels of experiment your character can be participate in, and each one will involve specific benefits and reponsibilities as you go up in level, resulting in improved accomodations, various luxuries and meta plot involvement for your character. Simlarly, your character's actions in game can result in movement between levels. For example, a character caught trying to escape the center can, and will, be placed in an observation unit, which results in a loss of all gained privileges so far, and then moved back to the introductory dormitory, etc. A character who undertakes an act of great courage or aids the unit in significant ways (exposing escape attempts, detaining secret rebels, etc) can also be expect to gain levels according to the system. Note that it will take significantly bad decisions for a character to be demoted from their current upper level. Things like escape/murder of PC's, etc. You can definitely decide to just donate your liver, get the replacement, and be done participating in trials if you really want to, or to stay at intro level, participating in non invasive proceedures forever, but behaving. However, most of the really funny benefits come for those who participate more often and are more highly involved or willing to help out.

That said, have a look at the levels your character might experience at the center.

Observation Unit:

This is the place where troublesome residents, or those who have caused significant problems are kept. Residents here live in solitary confinement cells with clear walls, and are watched by a member of staff at all times. They may also be sedated repeatedly, to be kept under control. After a period of one week in observation, reviews will be conducted as to whether the resident is able to move on to the open levels and join the general population in the center.

Level One:

Level one is where all characters begin the game. Residents are housed in dormitory style accomodations, watched over by a lower ranking member of staff. They have basic privileges in the center involving unsupervised bathroom usage (don't get excited kids, there's a camera in there), gym access, and use of the on dormitory kitchenettes and of course, if you prefer, the cafeteria. Yes, that's as bad as it sounds. You know on Voyager, when Neelix was the chef? It's like that guys.

Level Two: Upon successful completion of a character's first minor level proceedure (something along the lines of donating bone marrow, participating in a drug trial with required biopsies, tissue donations, etc), they will be moved into a nicer, shared apartment style lodging with up to three additional room mates. Rooms are shared by two residents each here, and apartments function similarly to one in the real world. You'll have access to heavily filtered television as well. In addition this is where many of the priviledges for PC's first start to appear, including:

Use of Communal creative spaces
Access to the casual diner stype restaurant on campus
Access to the center library and materials
Expanded network posting oppurtunities (video and voice, inbox)
